Checkout 51 ~ NEW way to make money back by shopping! Check it out if you love Ibotta!!

I know I have a lot of Ibotta fans out there! If you are ready for another app that doesn't limit you to specific stores, you have to check this one out! It's called  Checkout 51!

If you already did the Ibotta deal for milk, you can do it again here!

This was previously only available for Canadian residents but it has recently launched for the USA! To celebrate, Checkout 51 is offering everyone who signs up a $2.00 bonus. You receipt must total $20.00 in order to be eligible. One thing to remember with Checkout 51 is their offers run on a Thursday to Wednesday cycle. So you have to have bought your milk or whatever is on the list of available offers after 12:00 AM on Thursday, January 9.

From their "about" section on  their website:
"Every Thursday morning, Checkout 51 updates with a new list of offers. All you have to do is pick the ones you like, purchase them at any store, and upload a photo of your receipt through our mobile app or website. When your account reaches $20, we send you a check."

Download in the Apple App Store or on Google Play. You may also search for "Checkout 51" on your mobile device.

Here's some more information for you:

How Does Checkout 51 Work?

Browse the offers currently available. Shop at your local store (any store works, not just specific ones). Upload a photo of your receipt. Once your purchase is confirmed, they will deposit that amount in your account. Once you reach $20, you can cash out and they will mail you a check!

When do the offers go live?

New offers are available Thursdays at 12 am in each time zone. They are good through the following Wednesday at 11:59 pm, in each time zone. Receipts must be submitted while the offers are live. That means you can’t purchase something on Tuesday and then submit on Thursday, as the offer will have ended by that time.

Are there limits?

Each offer does have limits. Read the fine print prior to shopping. Since the number of offers are limited, it can mean that an offer will expire prior to the end of the week. Make sure it is available before you go shopping.

Can I get more than one offer?

No. You can only claim each offer one time, per account.

Can I use this offer when shopping online?

Yes! Your packing slip serves as your proof of purchase. Keep in mind that the same time restrictions apply to online purchases.

Can I use this on my mobile device?

They support both Apple and Android Devices! You can learn more by heading here.

Thank you, Penny Pinchin Mom!

Happy New Year & 2014 Update

I just wanted to drop you all a little note, wishing you a Happy New Year and let you know what's been up with me recently. I have to apologize for slacking on my blog. I really enjoy sharing deals and freebies with you all but I've had some things come up in life that has been weighing heavy on my mind and has kept me pre-occupied. I've had to start looking for a paying job so that takes up all of my online time. I hope you all understand and I promise to share as much as I can with you, when I can! I enjoy you all and appreciate your support throughout this last year and years before!

Love,
Cynthia

Basic Necessities Roundup for Week of 11/10

In a quest to help you be able to check this page each week if you need the best deal possible for basic household necessities, I'm going to post a Basic Necessities Roundup for you. These are items that are hard to stock up on, or are perishable.  It is derived from the research of five fellow couponers here in North Texas that have devoted their time to help everyone find the best possible deal on the items in our weekly list. Before going to the store each week, simply check this list and see how you can get these items at the best deal. If you don't want to run around town to grab each deal you need, simply price match the sale price at Walmart, if possible.

Much thanks and appreciation goes out to Donna, Patricia, and Rachel for helping make this list possible!

                  My 10 Money Saving Tips!

Don't throw your money away. Even a few cents at a time can add up! Here's a list of my money saving favorites, in no particular order.

                  1. BUY A WIRELESS PRINTER! Yes, they are expensive. Yes, you do have to pay for the ink. But, you WILL save boocoos of money in the long run! I have an HP wireless printer that I paid $100 for and my ink cost me $100 per year. I print lots of coupons too! There are so many deals to be gotten using printable coupons! And, if you haven't done so, go into your printer settings and change your print quality to draft so it will save you ink.  If you get an HP, you can print coupons.com coupons from your iPhone only. (Coupons.com has a contract with HP to only allow coupons to be printed from an iPhone to an HP printer.) Sorry Android people. This is an iPhone perk. ;)

                  2. When I post a deal for a printable coupon, get it NOW! Don't wait because these coupons go FAST. You don't want to be left in the dust when it comes to getting a deal. The same goes for the freebies I post.
                  3. Always check the weekly sales and buy what's on sale. Never pay full price if you don't have to. That's a BIG NO-NO! Stock up if it's a great deal because you never know when it will go on sale again.
                  4. Never just go to any gas station to get gas. Always check to see where you can get the cheapest gas at by using the Gas Buddy App
                  5. Plan your trips to the store wisely. Don't make special trips to get one or two things when you were just at the store the day before. This wastes gas and you will probably end up buying more than what you went to the store for.
                  6. Check to see how much your spending per kWh for electricity. You can be throwing away hundreds of dollars out the window by not checking this one simple thing. Go here to compare rates for Texas residents.  If your out of state, do a simple Google search for "compare electricity rates in ___".
                  7. Stop going out to dinner! Prepare home-cooked meals at home for your family for a fraction of the cost. Eating out is fun but try to limit your eating out to a few times per month.
                  8. Shop yard sales and resale shops. I used to think I was too good to buy second hand but all that has changed since I quit working. Now, I get excited to buy something, even though it's second hand! I've found great deals at yard sales, even things that are brand new with tags. Also, I've recently found the Goodwill store. You would be surprised at what you will find there for cheap! One more way to find great deals is through local buy, sell, trade groups on Facebook. You can also earn money buy selling things you no longer want or need in a yard sale or through your local Facebook buy, sell, trade groups.
                  9. Call your cell phone provider at least once a year and see if you are on the best plan. They can look back at your recent months activities and suggest what you can do in order to save money. There are probably better plans that you can get on which will cost you less!
                  10. Make a budget and stick to it. When you see where your money goes on paper, you will be more aware of how much your able to spend per month.

                  My shopping trips ~ Saved $228.02 :)

Just to show you how to save money while shopping, I'm sharing what I spent at each store I went to yesterday. :)

Yesterday, my friend, Marie and I went on a bargain hunting excursion in a nearby town! We had a great day. We found some great deals and here's the breakdown of my finds::

                  1. Goodwill ~ Bought two tops and paid $9.07. These are nice tops that would have cost $20 each (or more) in a department store. They had little to no wear! If you haven't checked out your local Goodwill store, I suggest you do! This is a savings of $30.93 or 77%!

                  2.  Family Dollar ~ Bought 3 bottles of Wisk detergent, a workout outfit, and a bottle of Hellman's Mayo on clearance for $17.95. This is a savings of $14.62 or 53%!

                  3.  Walmart ~ Bought 6 items, including a pair of yoga pants for $3.00! I paid $2.75 total! This is a savings of $20.45 or 88%!!

                  4.  Kroger ~ Bought 67 items and paid $83.56! This equals $1.25 per item! Some of them were free items from BzzAgent. I saved $115.34 or 58%!

                  5.  CVS ~ Bought 3 ZzzQuill and paid $0.00! (Used prior ECB's which totaled $8.00, got $3 in ECB back). This is a savings of $15.00 or 100%!!

                  6.  Dollar General ~ Bought 6 Jello Instant Pudding Mix and 6 Capri Sun Big Pouches. Paid $2.67. Saved $8.00 or 75%!

                  7.  HEB ~ Bought chicken, beef, sausage, hot dogs, fresh vegetables, ect. I got $6 in FREE produce and got $10 off my meat purchase with the coupons I posted the other day. I spent $34.49. I saved $23.68 or 41%
